The Hylaeus Project

A project in collaboration with entymologist and composer, Lisa Schonberg

Schonberg led a month long journey across three of the Hawaiian islands in search of native habitat of the endemic hylaeus bee. By working with local biologists and botanists, we uncovered and documented changes to previously documented habitats and populations. The Hylaeus Project culminated not only in research, but a book, percussion performance and cassette. Due to work Schonberg did with the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation seven species of the hylaeus became covered under the Endangered Species Act of Hawai' in 2016i.
